“I’ve had a great grounding in Harness Racing – couldn’t be happier with how things are going”

A lifetime of experience with horses, tutelage of his well-renowned Father and leading reinsman, Darren Elder, plus with over 400 winners to his name – including two Group 3 victories and bagging four winners at a meeting on an amazing six occasions, Brad Elder was well prepared when he decided in September 2022 that it was time to set up is own establishment – Brad Elder Racing.

Centrally located at Louth Park in the middle of New South Wales famous Hunter Valley region, Brad has hit the ground running!

On the first night of training under his own name, Brad prepared Roseburg for victory and shortly after, won the $25,000.00 Waratah Final with stable favourite, Lil Ripper.

“I’ve had a great grounding in Harness Racing, and whilst setting up your own place and stables is a daunting task, I couldn’t be happier with the way things have gone since I started training.”

Brad has a small be select and dedicated team, consisting of – Bevan Pringle (Forman, Trackwork Driver, and mast of all trades), Cooper Griffiths (Track Driver) and Tiarne Rusten (Track Driver).

“I’m really fortunate with the team I have, we really focus on the little one-percenters that can make all the difference.”

“During the July floods (2022) I needed an extra set of hands and Bevan come onboard and has been working for me ever since. He’s the backbone of my team and gives me the confidence to know when I can’t be at the stables, it’s in Bevan’s good hands.

“Same goes with Cooper and Tiarne, with us all being so hands-on with each of the horses, we get a real good understanding, quickly, about the strong points of a horse and identify the areas needed for improvement.”

“You can’t make horses tough, but you can have them 100% fit so when they race, you know that they’ll give you everything they’ve got.”

“When you come back to the enclosure after the winning, the look and the excitement on all the owners faces, is fantastic!”

“We really encourage our owners to be involved, and keep them updated with regular communications, video and audio reports, so when we do celebrate a win, we do it all together.”
